2012 Trip to Laughlin

So as you can see there are lots of burros and fun in Oatman, there is also a saloon the Oatman saloon where there are tons of money hanging on the walls, it has grown over the years. We found out back in the early days that if a minner or person had money they would sign the dollar bill and give it to the saloon owner and the next time the person came in and might not have money he could still buy a drink with the money left from the dollar bill. Interesting.

2012 Trip to Laughlin

Each year Carol and I do a couple day trip this year we went to Laughlin, on our way we stopped at Oatman Arizona, in this town you can see gun fights and shops,, restraunts, and each day you will see wild burros come to town for their daily pets, and food of carrots, we found a couple baby burros this time and on their forheads was a little note saying (please do not feed me anything) as they did not have all their teeth and were still nursing. It is a must to see when in Arizona.

My Winning

I bought tickets on this brand new fridge, it was specially painted with our provinces football team the Saskatchewan Roughriders, it came with two cases of beer and you can see my Mom and Me enjoying the beer, I must say I am the envey of all of my town as everyone wanted this fridge.

Granny Annie's (Diane's Mom) visiting from Fort Nelson June20-July 31st 2011

These are some of the things I did with my Mom when she stayed was us for about 6 weeks in the summer of 2011, I taught her to paint on a miniture saw.

I took her to a town called Eastend in Saskatchewan where you can see a lot of replica's and on going history of T Rex a dinasoaur that roamed this area. It is very interesting to see. We also went to a little museum in this town and I could see it brought back memories to my Mom when she was growing up.

We also took her to the Minninete Village in Swift Current where every summer they have an old tractor/car show, it is really interesting, also have a dog show and there is a very small village you can go into the houses and see how it was long ago. Once you see all of that you can go and get a nice cool sunday to eat so delicious. And if that is not all you can also go and buy some watermelon and a type of German Fry bread, very very tasty as you listen to old time music. A very enjoyable afternoon for sure.

As you enter our town of Ponteix you will see this dinasoar now it was found in our area and its name it MO it is a type of sea serpant and there is little about it known but the museum in Ponteix does have a bit on Mo.

Mom even experienced our local hair dresser an awesome lady who is my best friend's sister. So you can see we had a good time and seen lots of things in Saskatchewan. Thanks for visiting Mom sure loved having you with us.

Day 45 Sun Studios

Missed something while we were at the Sun Studios our guide you see in the white shirt gave Ken a guitar, I know Ken thought he was only to hold it but NO he was suppose to play it (yea right) anyway it was with a piece of paper that he stummed for about a half a second and gave the guitar back to the tour guide.

Now you will see Diane with a mic well she has now been anchor woman on Channel Two News, see her with Elvis, and will hear her on Sirus Radio (Elvis station) and now she is going to record a song, what will that girl do next????????????

Day 45 Sun Studios

After we left Sun Studios we were only across the river from Arkansas so we decided to take a drove over the Mississippi yet again to say we were in Arkansas, the Mississippi separtes Mississippi, Tennessee, and Arkansas. yes we do some silly spontanious things.

Day 45 Sun Studios

Our tour guide took us into a room where there was all kinds of old equipment used in those early years and how combersome some were even though they were called portable not like our portable equipment of today, we then went downstairs to the recording room, this studio consisted of 3 rooms the reception room the recording room and the sound room it was very small, you can see all the entertainers who got their start at this small studio. It is know that the owner fell on hard times and sold the studio for 3500.00. He was then able to pay off his debts and probably was sorry he never kept some of the famous ones like Elvis, Johnny Cash etc. There is so much to hear about this little studio and we were told we could not go into the sound booth as it is still in use today yes every night someone will come in and want to cut a record or CD and they still do it, although the equipment in this room has changed it is still the unique studio that so many famous entertainers got their first break. Elvis was only with them a few years then he went over to RCA studios.

Day 45 Sun Studios

You may wonder what is with these red bar stoles well on them is the names of some famous entertainers that got their start in the music business in this very small recording studio, so we decided to take the tour cost of $12.00 each and see how it was done back in the 50's
