Day 6 San Antonio the Riverwalk and the Alamo

There are alot of shops and resturants along the riverwalk, we even seen ducks probably from Canada, we took a ride on the river boat and the tour was made more interesting as our guide described all we saw it was well worth the $6.00 we paid for the tour.

Day 6 San Antonio the Riverwalk and the Alamo

Heading down to the riverwalk, it is so beautiful now I had a whole different idea as to what the riverwalk would be (walking along a river on sand or rocks ) is what I thought but not how it was so beautifully done absolutly worth going to see, even though it was so cold because of the high humidity we about froze.

Day 6 San Antonio the Riverwalk and the Alamo

The Alamo was well worth seeing we were unable to take pictures inside the building but could outside and it is just such an interesting place to see for real

Day 6 San Antonio the Riverwalk and the Alamo

This is the lake we stayed at, this branch in the water looks like the no swimming sign they have I thought anyway

We are now in San Antonio Texas and heading just outside of it to a State Park called Braunig Lake Park a few miles south of San Antonio, we will stay here a few nights to see things around San Antonio. Cost was $4.00 per person per night.

Day 5 San Antonio Texas

Going along I-10 we are now seeing different vegetation, but still miles and miles of not much.

Day 5 San Antonio Texas

Off to the left we saw black smoke not sure what the fire was but shortly after that we saw a few fire trucks heading that way now this is on the I-10 heading towards San Antonio and a ways away from anywhere.

Day 4 Trip south

Along with the many oil wells and the wide open spaces you see of Texas there were a few crops of cotton growing in the distance, Texas is truly an interesting state to see. So onward we travelled to a place called Fort Stockton, we pulled in it was getting near 6pm as we are now in Mountain time so we went to Pizza Hut for supper and parked just behind it for the night.

Day 4 Trip south

A couple interesting things in this great museum in Pecos

Day 4 Trip south

Perm anyone this is what they used to give the ladies a perm looks kind of intimidating to me

Day 4 Trip south

Diane in her favourite place yes a saloon, but the old west is the favourite this is in the museum in Pecos

Day 4 Trip south

Once we left the Carlsbad Caverans we headed south towards San Antionio but we stopped in Pecos to see a museum there it was very interesting another spot not to miss on your travels

Day 4 Carlsbad Cavrans

As we headed down to the outside opening of the Carlsbad Cavrans even the prickly pear catus and other catus had a covering of snow on them bet they wish they were in Arizona and not the high country of Texas

Day 4 Carlsbad Cavrans

There are a few places to view this enterence from and they have seats like in a ampetheater to sit on to watch this magnificent show when the bats come out,

Day 4 Carlsbad Cavrans

This is the main enterance to the caves but because of the snow they had it was to slippery to walk down into it so we had to go through the building and down, this is also the place where in the Spring and Summer when the bats are done hibernating they fly out at night and there are a million or more bats that come out eat and go back into the cave in daytime. I guess it is quite a site to see.

Day 4 Carlsbad Cavrans

You have to see these cavrans to believe the beautify and the mystery's of Mother Nature, it is all done by drippings of water which had been flooded hundreds and thousands of years ago, and all the different shapes that this has created is none you will ever see again, I am so glad we took the time to come to see this magnificant masterpiece.

Day 4 Carlsbad Cavrans

Yes it is snow we woke up to about 1/2 inch it was not as cold as the night before as the wind had stopped blowing and the sun was shinning so we are going to unhook Jim's truck and drive the 7 miles to the Caverans.

Day 3 of our across states trip

as we got near to where we would go up to see the caverns we asked if we could go park in the parking lot for the night only to find out the road to the caverns are closed for the night guess due to snow, so hopefully we can see the caverns tomorrow morning , it is really really windy here tonight and we are just in a big lot for the night, hope we can go up to the caverns tomorrow, Till tomorrow

Day 3 of our across states tripLo

Lots of stone buildings just like in Quartzsite these were right along side of the highway they were pretty cool to see

Day 3 of our across states trip

Some of the terrain in Texas was real neat I did not know what to expect but I liked the rolling hills and the flat lands I saw, then as we headed closer to Carlsbad Caveran you can see we stopped at a rest area and it was snowing now Carol was not happy to see this and it was Daisy's first look at snow I do not think she liked it any better than Carol did, yes it was still raining and being not nice but we were determined to get to Carlsbad Caverns.

Day 3 of our across states trip

This is all the freeways coming and going as we go through El Paso Texas, yes that is Jim ahead of us
